Faculty of Information Science and Technology 

The study of Information Technology (IT) leads the way to an affluent society and the society to come.

社会を豊かにする情報技術（IT）を学び、未来をデザインできる人材を育成します。

Recently, cards such as discount cards, credit cards, membership cards are rapidly becoming integrated. For example, when we make a purchase at a bookstore and then another one at a convenience store and pay by the same credit card, discount points are accumulated on the credit card. The development of Information Technology (IT) has made this possible. Our life is becoming more and more convenient thanks to IT. In the near future, one card will be sufficient for all our transactions. The Faculty of Information Science and Technology consider IT to be an important tool to create a new and desirable society. UMDS would like our students play an important role in its realization.

 

最近、メンバーズカードなどの機能の一体化が進んでいます。例えば書店やコンビニで商品を購入しても、一枚のカードに同じポイントが蓄積されていきます。実は合理化の裏で、情報技術(IT)が活躍。各企業のポイントシステムを統合し、相互間でのポイント運用を可能にしています。私たちの生活は情報技術(IT)によって快適に変化しているのです。他にも、キャッシュカードとクレジットカード、保険証なども一体化。技術が進めば、近い将来カード一枚で生活ができるかもしれませんね。

情報学部では、情報をひとつのツール(方法・技術)と考え、いかにそれを活用し、社会を豊かにするかを学んでいきます。

 

Course of Information and Urban Development

Understanding the function of information for urban space and analyzing urban information so as to help build better cities.

• POINT1              Grasping society as a whole, utilizing economics and information sciences.
• POINT2              Acquiring skills to analyze collected information accurately and efficiently.
• POINT3              Acquiring such skills as policy-strategy planning and decision making utilizing the analyzed data.

 

都市情報コース

都市空間と情報の関わり合いを理解し、情報を分析する力を街づくりに活かす方法を学びます。

POINT1              経済学や情報学の知識を基礎に、経済社会全体を学ぶ。

POINT2              収集した情報を正しく効率的に分析する力を身に付ける。

POINT3              分析データを基に政策や戦略を立案し、意思決定する力を育む。

 

Course of Information Systems

Understanding the role of information systems in the management of business and urban society and acquiring knowledge and skills to develop the information system suitable for that purpose.

• POINT1              Studying economics and business administration and the role of IT in those fields.
• POINT2              Exploring the possible functions of computers in order to make the best use of their capacity.
• POINT3              Studying to be IT engineers who possess well-cultured minds．

企業経営や都市社会における役割を理解し、情報システムを開発する知識を学びます。

Understanding information that connects businesses and consumers, and studying Information Technology to make use of it in management.

• POINT1              Acquiring knowledge and skills to choose useful information and applying it to management.
• POINT2              Learning methods of information analysis from the basic to the advanced level.
• POINT3              Learning to create new businesses by building information systems
